Directions By Car: Take the A68 Jedburgh Road going through Lauder and Earlston. At the next roundabout, turn right onto the A6091, pass the Borders Hospital and, at the next roundabout, take the 2nd exit signposted Tweedbank Station. Park near the entrance to the car park or (if it is full) in the industrial estate opposite the entrance.
OR: Take the A7 from Edinburgh. Drive through Galashiels and at the roundabout after Netherdale, take the 1st exit onto the A6091. Keep on the A6091 through one roundabout then take the 1st exit at the next roundabout.
By Train: Take the 10:11 Tweedbank train from Waverley Station, arrives @ Tweedbank 11:08
Trains return from Tweedbank @ 45 minutes past the hour.
ON INN: The George & Abbotsford Hotel, Melrose
IMPORTANT NOTES
1. This is a joint run with those attending the Glasgow Burnt Supper Weekend in Melrose.
2. It is an A to B run which finishes at the George and Abbotsford Hotel in Melrose – the venue for the aforementioned event.
3. There will be cars at Tweedbank Station for the bags of those arriving by train. At the end of the run, there will be cars at the hotel to fetch the cars & bags from Tweedbank.
4. The ON INN is the George & Abbotsford. There will be a headcount for lunch before the start of the run and if you say you are staying for lunch please do so as there was a problem in this respect last year!
5. After the lunch there will be cars and sober drivers to take those travelling by train back to the station. In any case, there are plenty of taxis and it’s only 2 miles.
